History
During the late 1800's and early 1900s the Shelby Iron Works was the South's largest charcoal-fired blast furnace. It played a vital part during the Civil War with iron production, as well as post-war producing train car wheels. Shelby was a company town with many of the buildings built by the company.

Historic Shelby Association
This is an official site of the Historic Shelby Association, (HSA). We are the non-profit organization that owns and operates Shelby Iron Works Park, Shelby, Alabama. HSA is an all volunteer, membership organization. Your membership, support, and help at historic Shelby Iron Works is welcomed and much appreciated.
